NMIT is proud to offer a range of scholarships for 2022

NMIT has over $80,000 available in scholarships for 2022.

Each year a portfolio of scholarships, generously funded by external sponsors, businesses and community organisations, opens for applications.

The scholarships come in many forms, including a combination of financial contributions and internship opportunities.

Chief Executive Wayne Jackson says NMIT is very fortunate to receive great support from the region’s business and community sectors, and is therefore able to offer a range of scholarships for the 2022 student intake.

“The scholarships are an acknowledgement of our community partnerships and commitment to our learners—who without assistance from an outside source, may experience difficulty paying for their study, or have to increase the size of their student loan, or the amount of paid work they need to do outside their studies.”

“A successful scholarship application helps supports a learner and sets them on the path towards their chosen career path or employment,” he says.

A new scholarship for 2022 is from Johnston Associates, Chartered Accountants. This provides $5000 for a student studying marketing, accounting, leadership or management.

Chief Operating Officer Karen Stilwell says the company is passionate about the business advisory industry.

“We want to keep the youth coming through the training, and enjoying it as much as we do which is why we wanted to offer a scholarship to NMIT,” she says.

Experienced school and community liaison staff, and Te Puna Manaaki (Māori learner Support Services) are available to assist with scholarship applications.

Semester two 2021 scholarships awarded

In July this year seven students were awarded semester two scholarships.

The students are enrolled in a range of programmes including the NMIT Diploma in Career Development(external link), Digital Photography Training Scheme(external link) and the New Zealand Certificate in Te Reo(external link) Level 3 and 4.

The scholarships offered financial support to purchase equipment for online learning, professional development and fees.

All the successful recipients’ applications were outstanding, and NMIT wishes them success with their studies.
